The West Coast....from Mexico up to Vancouver.

Mexico

Acapulco

Hmmmmm, this is impressive.

Some nice little grass huts on the beach-front.

This one reminds me of the Flintstones.

There's certainly a lot of variety in the architecture round here.

....and lots of different kinds of transportation!!

The Copacabana....

(not sure if it's THE Copacabana...?)

Tropical paradise?....What tropical paradise?

return to top

Manzanillo

That's one seriously overgrown fish!!

The local version of a skyscraper.

An example of the staircases
that navigate this hilly little town.

....and the mules they use for
getting stuff up and down them.
(look closely)
return to top

Puerto Vallarta

Getting more and more upmarket as we head northwards.

...oh well, except for the little bits of 'reality' in between the big hotels.

How the 'other half' live.

....and, of course, the main activity of tourists in Puerto Vallarta:-

(you should have seen me fumbling with the camera to try and catch that one :-)

return to top

Cabo San Lucas

WOW, this is nice!!!

Just look at the different kinds of shops and retaurants you can find here!!!

The grand entrance to the brand new (still under construction) shopping mall....

and inside....

and the view....

and one of the restaurants beside the marina....

The Cabo San Lucas marina is a lot like the one in Auckland, except with a whole lot of Spanish-style architecture. I guess part of the reason I liked it so much is because it reminded me of home.

return to top

California

Los Angeles

The bridge at San Pedro port....as seen from on-board the ship.

And of course one simply HAS to visit the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal City.

Ummmm.....OK, that's all I got from LA.....but I had a BLAST in Hollywood!!!

return to top

San Francisco

I think I've seen that skyline on TV.

Simply fascinating!!

Just an ordinary street....

Union square, in the heart of the shopping district.
(I could've used a few extra days :)

Of course, there's the obligatory 'touristy' stuff:-
<<< Another Hard Rock Cafe.

....and an 'interesting' traffic jam:-

"Alcatraz"

Apparently, this is where NCL sends crew members who misbehave!

And finally....

The Golden Gate Bridge!!

return to top

Vancouver, Canada

The buildings of downtown Vancouver.

Wow, they have big bugs around here :-)

A nice place to have lunch
(you can see the bug in the background)

How quaint....Vancouver's gaslight district.

Which brings us to Alaska, and a regular 7 day itinerary out of Seattle.
