The wonderous beauty of Scandinavia.

Stockholm, Sweden

The home of ABBA.

The Touristy part of Stockholm.

Some typical city streets.

The view across the harbour.

This looks like a wealthy part of town.

....and close by:

Hmmmm, there's someone in the water pointing at something.

....and a close-up of the church in the background.

Norway

Oslo.

Norway's capital city.

Oslo's city hall building is certainly ummmm....noticable!

Street-side dining in front of an old hotel on the main street.

....and something a bit more out-of-the-way.

I couldn't quite capture the whole castle....but it's right beside where we dock.

This looks like a good place to go shopping:-

A couple more of Oslo's inner-city buildings:-

return to top

Geiranger.

Into the Norwegian Fiords.....

There's only 300 people in this town (at least when we're not there).

The waterfall that divides the town in half:-

One of the hairpin turns in the road leading up the hill.

....and part way up:-

The octagonal church.

....and an interesting view from the top.

Peace and tranquility back down at the bottom.

As we sail back out through the Geiranger fiord.....

The Seven Sisters waterfalls.
(you have to look closely to see all seven)

return to top

Olden.

Oh boy, this is peaceful!!!

There's something 60 km to the left, there's something 60 km to the right, and in between.....

More peace and tranquility.....

Notice how the band-stand has a little treble clef on top.
This is the sort of thing they sell in the shops 'round here.

Oh, what a view these guys have......

return to top

Bergen.

Back to the big city again.

The unique Norwegian style of buildings:-

An interesting mix of architecture.
A local supermarket:

That's kinda spooky-looking looming in the distance.

.....and something a little more light-hearted to finish off with:

return to top

Helsinki, Finland

A sociable place.

They certainly make the middle of town colorful.

Wow, that's....um.....Bright, isn't it.

Aaaah, that's a bit more subdued.

The church in the rock.....fascinating!!!!!

A big department store - Helsinki-style - in amongst the bustle of the city.

return to top

Copenhagen, Denmark

Is Denmark part of Scandinavia?

I'm not sure, but it seems to fit right in.

What a great location for a coffee shop.

There's so many things to see in this town....here's just a few that I happened to get pictures of:-

Some stunning looking buildings....

....surrounded by lots 'n' lots of people:-

Lots of stuff happens here :-)

The front gates of Tivoli gardens.

....and a brightly colored theatre accross the street.

The multi-colored sights of the Nyhavn canal.

return to top

.....and that's about it for Scandinavia.....hope you enjoyed it!!!
