Finally I get a chance to visit the Big Apple!!!

Introducing.....

New York, New York

So glad they named it twice

5th Avenue.

Madison Ave.

How do you capture Times Square on camera??
A snails-eye view of the Empire State Building:-

Sure looks like a loooong way up there.
The Brooklyn Bridge:-
(I couldn't fit it all into one shot)

I even walked part-way across:

And this is the view of downtown from the other side of the pier.

No, that's a different bridge!!!
(that's the one we sail underneath as we leave)

Columbus Circle

Apparently this is where Donald Trump hangs out.

The Time-Warner Building as viewed across Columbus circle.

.....and the view from inside, looking back out across Central Park.

You can even go ice-skating in the middle of town.

<<< I think that says it all
don't you?

The downtown courthouse buildings:-

(this is where you get your dose of 'law and order')

Apparently this is where all the money is....
....the New York Stock Exchange.
Wall Street:-

Somehow I expected it to be.....bigger.

An interesting way to park cars.

The Staten Island Ferry, as it tries to dodge some hulking great big cruise ship :-)

Now, out across the Atlantic ocean to....

Bermuda

Starting with King's Wharf

An unusual-looking shopping mall.

The fortress, guarding against....well....cruise-ships, probably.

Hamilton

Bermuda's capital city.

The row of shops and restaurants along the waterfront.

Just another ordinary street corner.

A moody shot of the marina.

....and a BMW driving down an appropriately tree-lined street.

I'm not sure if this guy's welcoming people or waving them goodbye.
(I bet his arms get tired though)

Saint John

Now this is quaint.

Some of the architecture 'round here is pretty exotic...

....and some of it's more down to earth.

If you're going to have a view from your golf course,
I guess that's as good as any.

Cannons in the town square aimed directly at the harbour.
(to keep the cruise-ships away)

The entrance to Fort St. Catherine.
(I see a pattern forming)

Plus one new port in the Caribbean.

Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic

Just a couple of the tourist traps

La Marina (that's Spanish for 'the marina')

Just your typical tropical restaurant.

...and of course the obligatory shopping.

The grand circle of cafes.

Wow, that's a little bit different from the toll-gates we have back home.

Altos de Chavon

A replica of a traditional Mediterranean/Spanish village.

Way coooool!!

A couple of birds-eye views of
the village and the river beyond.

The huuuuuge amphitheatre!!!!

And then back to.....

New York, New York

Jeeze, you take a quick trip to Bermuda -- come back and it's winter!!!

That looks kinda eery

Central Park

A couple of shots of the park with the buildings of New York in the background:-

A tangled mess of branches.

A slight contrast to the dwellings of Manhattan.

Now that's the way to get around the park!

An old unoccupied building,
somewhere in New Jersey.
Ground zero.....a resurrection.
The construction site where the twin towers used to stand.

Just a taste...I couldn't really capture the atmosphere of New York on camera. You'll just have to visit for yourself!!
