Come with me on an Adventure around the Hawaiian Islands.....

Sunday night:-

Honolulu

Aloha Tower

In Honolulu the 'Star' berths right along side a beautiful little shopping and restaurant centre called the Aloha Tower - once upon a time the tallest structure in Hawaii. Here's a few pictures from around that area:-

Here's an example of the beautiful women that can be seen wandering around Honolulu!

This might give you an idea of just how big this monstrosity of a ship really is.

A view of the sunset we see every Sunday evening just before embarking for another week's adventure around the pacific islands!

Monday morning:-

The Big Island

Banyan Drive

A short 15 minute walk from the dock brings us to a picturesque little place called Banyan Drive (named after the Banyan trees).

Here's where it starts:-

The magical beauty of the Banyan tree.

Banyan drive as it weaves through the trees.

Finally leading to a cute little island:-

....and these magnificent Japanese gardens.

The musicians vs. the volcano.... (the volcano won)

I managed to drag my butt out of bed at 7.30 am - along with 3 other musos - only to have it frozen half off touring around the crater of this volcano --
Pretty cool stuff though....

...and off into the middle of the Pacific...

Wednesday morning:-

Fanning Island

The Lifestyle....

A typical upmarket suburban dwelling on Fanning Island. The real estate agents would go nuts over this one!!

For some strange reason, this picture reminds me of childhood days spent in a motor camp (trailer park) during christmas holidays....Go Figure!

It seems kind of incongruous to see a motor vehicle in the middle of this wilderness.
I guess they don't have to worry too much about right-of-way rules (yet)!!

Unfortunately, I missed the shot of this kid clutching handfuls of dollar bills (not to mention the old lady who was continually throwing more money because the poor kid didn't look happy) - I'm sure I could manage to look unhappy too if it was making me money. Just seemed like a bizaar paradox.

Napali Beach...

This is the most idealic little tropical beach I've ever seen - the photo doesn't do it justice.

Friday afternoon:-

Maui

This is our first view from the ship of the mountains over Lahaina as we arrive at the spectacular island of Maui.

To tell you the truth, I was having so much fun cruising around Maui with Brian in his Mercedes convertable, I forgot to take very many pictures!!

Anyway, here's a picture of us....'cruisin'

At one point, a group of us drove up to the crater at the top of Haleakela, some 10,000 feet above sea level (brrrrrrrr).

Actually, I think this might be where they filmed the moon landings in 1969!!

The Biiiiiiig Banyan tree in the middle of the township of Lahaina:-

Apparently, it's all one tree!!

Saturday morning:-

Kauai

This island is sooooo beautiful....it's easy to see why it's been chosen as the location for so many movies over the years!

Let me show you some of my favorite places:-

A short walk past beautiful beaches leads to the Marriott golf course:-

Beyond that is the lighthouse at the end of the airfield

Around the north shore of Kauai things are a little more......turbulent -

And....to top it all off, a Helicopter Ride around the island!!!

Deep down into one of Kauai's water-soaked valleys - a stunning little waterfall (maybe not so little :-)

Waimea Canyon, The Grand Canyon of the Pacific!!

WOW!!!

The Napali coast has to be seen to be believed - these pictures don't do it justice!!

Being one of the wettest places on earth......I guess all that water's gotta go somewhere!!

For those of you old enough to remember 'Fantasy Island', you'll recognise this waterfall from the opening credits :-)

And of course - - A photo of me with 'My' helicopter!

....and the sun sets over Kauai as we head back to where we started from....

Sunday morning:-

Oahu

Waikiki

All those tourists covered with oil.

Diamond head above the bustle of Waikiki Beach.

An artificial lagoon around one of the Wiakiki hotels.

The exta-ordinary Waikiki Boardwalk.

My final Hawaiian Sunset over Waikiki before heading back home to New Zealand.

I hope you've enjoyed our travels together.
Come back soon for the next episode in the continuing story of.....
'the Richard Towers cruise-ship adventure'!!
