Some more Caribbean shots, from my time with Royal Caribbean

Starting with.......

Miami, Florida

Some views of the city scape.

The Miami skyline looks breathtaking as we sail away from it.

Lifestyles of Miami's rich and famous....

Kind of convenient to be able to park your
luxury yacht outside your....MANSION!!!

....and the buildings of South Beach in the background.
(more on that later)

The Dade county courthouse.
That's where you end up if you indulge in
too many of the local 'vices'.
Life through a porthole.

Another view of South Beach as we depart.

return to top

and on to.......

Nassau, The Bahamas

A tropical paradise, so close to the mainland U.S.

The bright colors of the Caribbean greet us right at the terminal.

"Welcome to the hotel....."
.....hang on, I think I used that joke already :-)

The beautiful Atlantis hotel on Paradise Island.
....and by night:-

Hmmmm, I think they left the 's' off of 'Towers'.

Probably not the only thing they're
pushing around this neighbourhood.

Now thats classy :-)

Hey, this is festive!!

The Marina Village, just beside the Atlantis hotel.

All lined up ready to take off.
I hope I can manage to get back on board the right one!!

....ready, steady, GO!!

return to top

next stop.......

CocoCay, The Bahamas

One of Royal Caribbean's private destinations.

A cute little island in the midst of the Bahamas.

Nope....nothing touristy about this place:-

Of course, you knew there had to be a beach, didn't you.

Some of the local inhabitants:-

Fun for the kids....

(some pretty old-looking kids)

Hmmmm......this looks interesting....

...and leads to....

(waaaay at the other end of the island)
I waited for ages for the bus on the way back.
(ended up walking)
One of about 3 houses on the island.

....and the shed in the back yard.

If you look closely, it's Black Beard's grave.

return to top

followed by.......

Labadee, Haiti

The other one of Royal Caribbean's private resorts.

This one's not actually an island, it's a peninsula in Haiti.

Welcome!

First, where's lunch.....

....and here's the bar for a drink afterwards:-

Or, if you prefer, the 'Dragon's Breath' pub.
....oh no, sorry, that's closed for renovations.

I think this might be the dragon in question:-

(or is it just the effect of the local 'substances')

Let's explore:-
The beach:-

The bush:-

I see a pattern forming :-)

The markets:-

I think these people want us to buy stuff:-

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that's a real pirate ship, do you?
My competition:-

return to top

and back to.......

Miami, Florida

Back to the big city again.

Things to do in Miami.....

Well, you could always visit the mall:-

This is the little guy that stands guard over 'Thomasville',
just near the Dadeland mall....so I guess his name must be Thomas.
Village at Merrick Park.....ooooh, very up-market.

Coconut Grove....a quaint little shopping district, close to the bay.

South Beach

Some of the famous art-deco architecture:-
The erotic art museum.

(no comment :-)

My brother, 'Waldorf'.

I wonder if they've noticed their
building is covered in fish.

Tudor hotel....as opposed
to four-door, I guess.

Look who's moved in here:-

<<<< Am I the only on that thinks
that looks a little bit.....um.....well.....
oh, never mind :-)

.....oh yeah.....and there's a beach. (I guess that's why they call it 'South Beach':-)

I hope you enjoyed my most recent exploits in the Caribbean.
